The United Staten courts have adjourned until September. Sheriff Coots has 721 warrants in hiB hands lor the collection of unpaid liquor taxes. 4n insane woman named Melinda Berchoy, 73 veara old, feil from a fonrth story window on Congrega Street, Wednesday night and wa aliuost instantly killed. WedneBday evening Chauncy Hurlburt, President of the Board oL Water ers, suflfered a strokc of paralysis at his residence on Jefferson avenue. Thomas H. Hilbert, a single man aged 25, accidentally and fatally shot himself Thursday morning with a revolver which he kept under his pillow. A party of about 200 Excursionista arrived up from Cleveland Friday on the steamer Flora, en-route to Lake Superior. They Rpent most of the day here and started on their way in the evening. The Common Council has appointed a oommittee of nineteen to superintend the eonstruction of the new market building. The University of Alabama has conferred the degree of LL. D. upon Rev. Samuel S. Harris, the bishop-elect of this diocese. The body of a woman was found in the river at Trenton on Saturday, which proved to be that of an abandoned woman named Belle O'Dell, who is supposed to have jumped into the rivcr at the Müwaukee Depot, Wednesday night. Kli V. Laderoot, aged 22, was drowned at Sugar Island Monday afternoon , where he had gone with an excursión party and swam out into the river. Monday morning a young Frenchman named Paradie, accidentally lost his footing while at work on the new elevator and feil to the bottom of one of the bins, a distance of 48 feet. Strangely enough, he was not instantly killed, but when picked up was found to have sustained severe internal injuries. There are 424 prisoners in the Detroit House of Correction at present.
