Saleu, Aug. 25. - Eev. E. E. Manning and wifo of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, aro visiting bis í'ather, W. E. Manning ot' Salem. - Farmers are very busy preparing their ground tor wheat, ot' whicb theru will be a very largo amount sown this fall. - Wheat is mostly threshed and yielda about twenty busbels per acre. Oats are a good erop and yield frotn forty to fifty bushels. - The five Sabbath schools of Salem were at the picnic at Whituiore Lake last Saturday, headod by the brass band of South Lyon. - Charles Rider, son of Wm. Eider near Salem Station, was kicked in the face by a horse while he was at the Eed Eibbon picnic at Whitmoro Lake.
