Mr. Benny of Ohio, has arrived at ïndependence, Mo., from Oregon, having left in May last. He reports that the people were generally pro-sperous and happy. The elections were to loke placfi in June, for mcmbors of the Legislaiure of Oregon, and considerable interest was feit as to the result. The grand question at issue was, whetiïer the sale of ardcnt spirits shnuld be pormilted in the Territory. Mr. B. brought a large number of letters. He snys the emigrants he met were generally healthy, and in good spirits, tlieir teams looking well. He met 400 wagons on his route, some were going to Oregon and some to California. The cmigrants to the points above named separated at Independent Rock.
