SOUTH LYON—Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Phillips Funeral Home for Clement Smith, 52, of Pontiac Trail, who died Friday of a heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edsel Heichel, in Pontiac, where he and Mrs. Smith were visiting.
Mr. Smith was born in South Lyon April 11, 1896, the son of Fred and Lilly Hodgeman Smith.
He was married to the former Mary Challis of South Lyon on July 18, 1920. With the exception of a few years spent as a resident of Howell, Mr. Smith lived all his life in this community.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and a veteran of World War I.
Survivors beside his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Heichel and Mrs. David Herald, of South Lyon, two grandchildren, and two brothers, Foster and C. W. Smith, also of South Lyon.
