City's 675 Silent Employes Bring In Nearly $400,000 In Five years' Service - George Kaercher, Ann Arbor's parking meter collector, puts a day's take in pennies into 50-cent envelopes with the help of a sorting machine which singles out good pennies from mutilated ones, slugs, washers, etc. In the past five years of operation, the meters have taken in $391,419 in pennies and nickels.
