Former Hotel Man Succumbs In Dexter DEXTER—Roe B. Stevens, 66, former proprietor of the Stevens Hotel in Whitmore Lake, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Erwin Mast, after a long illness. Born March 8, 1886, at Whitmore Lake, he was the son of Albert and Josephine Stevens. He attended the University of Michigan from 1905-08 and 1909-10. Until it burned in 1942, he was the proprietor of the Stevens Hotel. His wife, Evelyn Stein Stevens, died in 1922. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Erwin Mast of Dexter and Mrs. Jack Koernke of Ann Arbor; one son, Stewart Stevens of Riverside Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie S. Lawrence of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. E. J. Gibb of Whitmore Lake; two brothers, Fred Stevens of Belle Glade, Fla., and Harry Stevens of Whitmore Lake; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Whitmore Lake Methodist Church, Rev. Asa Compton officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Whitmore Lake. Friends may call at the Keehn Funeral Home in Dexter until 11 a.m. Monday, when the body will be taken to Whitmore Lake to lie in state at the church until the funeral.
