Schmale, Dr. Theodore R. (formerly of Ann Arbor)

Age 87, passed away yesterday, June 4, at the Evangelical Home in Detroit. Born August 22, 1881, in Hamel, Illinois, he was the son of Rudolph and Katherine Bole Schmale. Dr. Schmale had been a resident of the home for the past year-and-a-half, residing in Ann Arbor since 1928 prior to that time. He married Clara A. Dinkmeyer. Dr. Schmale had been Pastor of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Ann Arbor from 1928 to 1951, and Pastor Emeritus since that time. Surviving, besides his wife, are: two sons, Dr. Herbert T. Schmale, of Ann Arbor, and Fred H. Schmale, of Bloomfield Hills; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn E. (Helen) Baumann, of Midland; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Bethlehem United Church of Christ with Dr. Theodore L. Trost Jr. and Reverend Ernest R. Klaudt officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel until 9 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem United Church of Christ.
