Former School Teacher Succumbs To Illness
CHELSEA - Mrs. Dorothy B. Chapman, 54, a former school teacher, died yesterday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, where she had been since July 12.
A Chelsea resident since 1912, she lived at 20501 Jerusalem Rd. She taught school in this vicinity after graduation from Michigan State Normal College in Ypsilanti.
Born Feb. 7, 1903, in Jackson, she was a daughter of George and Katherine Buehar Satterthwaite. She was married June 24, 1925, to Leon Chapman in Chelsea.
A member of the Congregational Church, she also belonged to the Pilgrim chapter of the church and to the South Sylvan Extension Club. She was a graduate of Chelsea High School.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Howard Baker of Ann Arbor, a son, Larry, at home, two grandchildren, and her father, George Satterthwaite of Chelsea.
