Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at the Muehlig chapel for Burneth George “Shorty” Marquardt, co-partner in the Michigan Neon Co., 1001 Broadway, who was killed in an automobile accident yesterday at the “big oak” on the W. Liberty Rd. at the Zeeb Rd.

The Rev. Ernest C. Stellhorn, pastor of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, will officiate at the funeral services and burial will be in Forest Hills cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig chapel.

Mr. Marquardt, 23-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman E. Marquardt, 563 S. Ashley St., with whom he lived, was driving a truck owned by the neon sign company when he failed to make the left turn off the W. Liberty Rd. on to Zeeb Rd., and crashed into the giant oak landmark. He died an hour and a half later in St. Joseph’s Mercy hospital.

He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, and of the Young People’s society and the Brotherhood of the church. He entered into partnership with Grover Seyfried, to form the Michigan Neon Co., March 1, 1935.
