Downtown Construction Update: Downtown Library Opens on Saturday, June 13

by aadl-news

The Downtown Library will reopen on Saturday, June 13, at 9:00 AM. Access will remain limited to the north, and we strongly caution pedestrians to not walk in traffic on Fifth Avenue. We are midpoint in the construction process for the work on the front of the building. There is still a lot of demolition work to be done, so the noise and dust are with us for a few more weeks.

We took advantage of the necessary closure to have new carpeting installed in the Children's Room and on the Third Floor. We also moved many collections to different floors so that room for expansion in most collections is now possible. Maps will be posted at each floor and available at all service desks. No collections were reduced in size or eliminated. Please ask us if you cannot find what you are looking for on Saturday.

Until Saturday,

Josie

Will the Downtown Holds that were moved to Traverwood be moved back to Downtown? THANKS!

YAY

No doubt we'll all be bustling through the doors! Sounds like the perfect day to walk into town and grab a few Summer Games points!

Thank you for the improvements! I've been watching progress from bus station. Looks great, and can wait to open those hopefully lighter doors at entrance - yay! Also, can't wait to see the new changes inside library, all sounds great!

Thanks for the update. Looks like we will stick with Malletts Creek for a while. Must be a pain to work in all this chaos.

Will traffic caused construction ever stop in this town?

Very excited to see the changes! Thank you for this valuable, beloved community space. So proud of our library.

yea

Cool

I hope that they put some new landscaping in front of the library! I'm really missing the foliage.

Thank goodness -
Just in time for the new summer game codes and library time for our family! Thanks!

Our family really enjoys the Ann Arbor libraries and I look forward to seeing the upgrades to the downtown location.
Keep up the great work.

I so hope the front entrance will be safer after all this! The steps with yellow paint were still hazardous. It's wonderful the library is open again.

Just visited Downtown for the first time since the reopening. Things are moved around a lot! Where did all the space come from? If you didn't reduce the collections, how is there more space and lower stacks?

:D
