Publishing Firm Dies
Lawrence S. Gray, 57, salesman for a Chicago book publishing company, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 1503 Shadford Rd., after a long illness.
Born on May 15, 1894, in Pioneer, O., he was a son of Ralph and Amelia Hendricks Gray.
He was graduated from Western Michigan College at Kalamazoo in 1917 and from the University Literary College in 1921.
That same year he joined the Scott-Foresman Publishing Co. and had continued with them until the time of his illness.
On Sept. 21, 1929, he married Miss Gladys Ericson of Ann Arbor. She survives.
Mr. Gray was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Bookmen’s Club of Michigan.
Surviving besides his wife, are one son, Jack Lawrence of Ann Arbor; one sister, Mrs. Rosie Laser of Prattville, Mich.; three brothers, Carl of Montpelier, O., Hubert of Red Oak, Ia., and Virgil of Dearborn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Muehlig Chapel, with Rev. Walter M. Brandt officiating. Burial will be made in Washtenong Memorial Park. Friends may call at the chapel.
