On the adjournmen! of this institulion, which has been in session during the week, nt the Court House, in this village, a meeting of the ciu'zens was immediately organized by appointing W. S. Maynard, Esq. Chairman, nnd C. Clark, Secretary. The meeting was ably and eloquently addressed by the Hon. A. Felch, D. McIntyre, Esq. and Prof. Wheedon, in support of the following Resolutions, which wcre unanimously adopted. Resolved, That liolding in graieful remembrar.ce the important nnd cheering assurance given by the United States in Congress assembled nearly sixty years ago, to all who should exehange the comforts and advantnges of their early homes for nn abode in the then unpeopled wilds of the West, as containcd in the celebraled ordinance oí 1787, for the government of the Territory Northwest of the River Ohio - that " Relig:on, moralityand knowledge being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of educalion shall forever beencouraged." We, as inhabitants of a part of that Territory, acknowledgo our obligations to preserve inviolate this wise and valuable guaranty, and to perpetúate for succeedng generations, the blesings which must flow from its obser vanee - and as one efiective means of executing this important trust, we will aid and co-opernte in all suitable means to encourage, elévate and improve our common schools. Resolved, That we believe County Educaüonal Societies and Teachers Institutes; are important nnd commendable means to accomplish these desirableends, and therefore entitled toour countonance and cordial support. Resolved, That tho hospitalities of the citizensof this villnge be tendered to the members of the Teacher's Institute, at its next meeting, on the 3d Monday of Sept. next. Resolved, That the proceedingsof this meeting be signed by the officers nnd published in all the papers of the county.
