Zeck Retires - Howard A. Zeck, with the city he served in the background, hung up his gun and badge Thursday. It ended his 27-year association with the Ann Arbor police department. Major Zeck, a South Dakota native, for years headed the department's traffic division and has been among the department's three top ranking officers under Chief Walter Krasny. A World War II veteran, Zeck, 49, worked as a desk officer, patrolman and uniformed sergeant and traffic investigator before entering the command rank in 1963. (Staff photo by Robert Chase)
