Long Illness Fatal To Ann Arbor Woman
Mrs. Lydia E. Thornton, 81, of 1028 Fuller St., wife of the late Henry Thornton, died yesterday at her home after an illness of several years.
Mrs. Thornton was born on Nov. 8, 1872, in Chillicothe, O., a daughter of James and Katherine Heckler Crowe.
She was married to David Bundy in 1894 and he died in 1896. She was married to Mr. Thornton in 1917. He died in 1924.
A resident of Ann Arbor for the past 40 years, she was a member of the Second Baptist Church and served for many years as secretary of the missionary society of the church. She also was a member of the Golden Age Club.
There are no surviving relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Second Baptist Church, with the Rev. C. W. Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The body will lie in state from noon Wednesday until the hour of service. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel until 11 a.m. Wednesday.
