Mothers Hike Polio Total To $42,000
1,700 Collect $16,000 In County; Ann Arbor Gives $10,000 In Drive
Approximately 1,700 Washtenaw county mothers last night collected $16,762 for the March of Dimes, bringing the county’s total collection for polio aid to $42,805.
Drive officials see a possibility of reaching the county quota of $50,000 when all returns are in. Canisters have not yet been counted, some benefit events are planned this weekend and dime cards continue to come in, Mrs. Robert S. McNamara, county chairman said today.
The annual Mothers' March in Ann Arbor yielded $10,001 to fight infantile paralysis. That brings Ann Arbor's total so far to $25,792. The Ann Arbor goal is $30,000.

Ypsilanti, $2,756; Pittsfield Village and East Ann Arbor, $909; Chelsea, $552; Dexter, $310; Dixboro, $91; Manchester, $300; Milan, $703; Saline. $540; Whittaker, $130; and Willow Village, $469.
The county Mothers' March returns nearly double last year's ' yield of $8,500. Last year, Ann Arbor, East Ann Arbor, Pittsfield Village and outlying district donated only $6,125, while Ypsilanti gave $2,074 and Saline $319. Other communities did not participate.
The drive moved smoothly and no difficulties were reported in Ann Arbor. About 850 mothers participated in the door-to-door canvass for contributions for the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.
