Age 73, died this morning in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a long illness. Born Aug. 15, 1895 in Vernon, Mich., he was the son of Charles C. and Frances Reed. He had been an Ann Arbor resident since 1930. On June 13, 1942 he was married to Marion Lindquist. Mr. Reed was a member of the First Methodist Church, a veteran of World War I serving with the United States Marine Corp., a member of the Erwin Prieskorn Post No. 46, the American Legion, the Graf O'Hara post, Veterans of Foreign Wars and past president of the Michigan Gasoline Dealers Association. He operated Paul Reed's Service at Packard & State from 1930 until retiring in 1963. Survivors include: his wife; a son James P. of Ann Arbor; a daughter Mrs. Ross (Margaret Ann) MacDonald of Warren; two sisters, Mrs. Georgia McNaughton of Ann Arbor, Mrs. Eleanor Rheingans of Fenton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday from the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Kendall Cowing officiating. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for the Coronary Care Unit, c/o Sister Mary Yvonne. Friends may call at the chapel beginning Saturday.
