Wilbert D. Kendall

SALINE - Wilbert D. Kendall, 78, who retired as flagman for the Ann Arbor Railroad at the Hoover Ave. crossing in Ann Arbor two years ago, died yesterday afternoon at Saline general hospital after a short illness.
He had lived in Saline community since 1927 and was a life-long member of the Methodist church at Pomona, Mich.
Born July 3, 1868, at Grant township, Grand Traverse county, Mr. Kendall was the son of William D. Kendall and Bethany King. He first was married to Elizabeth Ann Valencant, who died Nov. 23, 1916. He later was married to the former Nina Beebe Erskine of Grant township.
Surviving besides the widow are eight daughters, Mrs. Hugh Allen of Ludington, Mrs. Alma Ives of Owosso, Mrs. Earl Church of Wyandotte, Mrs. Raymond Cole of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Clyde Schick of Marshall, Miss Evelyn Kendall of Chicago, Mrs. Orville Bailey of Ludington, and Miss Mary Ellen Kendall of Saline; three sons, Ralph of Ludington, Orin of Howell, and Keith of East Ann Arbor; 28 grandchildren; and a brother, Rev. Charles J. Kendall of Hastings.
