Book Store Operator Lived Here 48 Years
Funeral services for Thomas I. Biddle of 928 Dewey Ave., who died shortly before noon yesterday at University hospital after a brief illness, will be held at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Muehlig funeral chapel, with Rev. Frederick Cowin officiating.
Combined Masonic services will be held at the grave at Forest Hill cemetery, with Fraternity Lodge, Ann Arbor Council, Washtenaw Chapter and Ann Arbor Commandery Knights Templar participating.
Born Dec. 9, 1887, in Saline, a son of Ira P. and Nancy Jane Biddle, Mr. Biddle came to Ann Arbor with his family when he was 10 years old and had lived here since then.
He had operated Biddle's Book Store in the Nickel's Arcade since 1915, specializing in law, medical and dental books.
He was a member of Fraternity Masonic Lodge, Ann Arbor Council, Washtenaw chapter, of Knights Templar, and of the order of the Eastern Star.
On April 15, 1899, he was married to Clemma Mills, of Ann Arbor, who survives him.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Pfc. Thomas W., with the U. S. Army in France; two daughters, Mrs. Willard Hawke, of Detroit, and Mrs. Wilbur Powers, of Trenton, N. J.; two grandchildren, Carol and Robert Powers; and two brothers, Clyde and Carl, both of Ann Arbor.
Friends may call at the chapel.
