U Man Heads Child Care Association

Dean E. Lidgard of the University Medical Center has been elected president of the American Association of Child Care in Hospitals.

Lidgard, assistant director of the Hospital School at C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital, was elected at the annual conference of the association in New York City. The association is comprised of pediatricians, nurses, nursing instructors, social workers, occupational therapists, hospital school teachers and others concerned with the total care of children in hospitals.

The new president has been involved in the work of the association since its organization seven years ago. He served as the co-chairman of the 1969 conference and has been secretary of the board of directors for the last two years.

Lidgard holds degrees from Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University. He also has done advanced graduate work at the U-M.

Lidgard is a director of the Michigan Easter Seal Society of Crippled Children and Adults. He is a past president of a chapter of the Council of Exceptional Children and is also active in CAP, Inc.
