Yule Lighting Contest Entry Time is Extended

Extension of time for entering the local Christmas lighting contest to midnight Thursday was announced today by members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce committee in charge. 

The fact that only about 15 entries had been received up to yesterday was emphasized by the committee as presenting a wide open opportunity for additional entrants to win one of the 13 prizes to be donated by local merchants and businessmen. 

Entries may be made either by mail or by phone to the local of Chamber of Commerce office or to committee members through Thursday. Entries after 5 p.m., and until midnight Thursday should be made with Richard Simon, chairman of the committee at 23712. 

Judging ends Monday

Judging of decorations will start Thursday night and continue through next Monday with prize[winner]s being given their choice in the order in which they are named by the judges.

Other prizes are: Ann Arbor Savings bank, First National Bank, State Savings Bank, and Farmers and Mechanics Bank, each a $5 credit on a 1936 Christmas Savings account; Washtenaw Gas Co., a $4.50 percolator; Abbott Gasoline Co., a $5 credit; Greene's Cleaners, a $5 account; Brown and McDougall Groceries, a basket of groceries; Frank Wilkinson, leather goods, any $5 article or a $5 credit; Goodhew Floral Co., a $3 credit; McDonald Ice Cream Co., $3 in merchandise; and Starbuck's Cottage Inn. a family dinner.  

A pair of tickets will be given [to] each of the first 10 winners by the Michigan Theatre.
