Pollution from Pall plant spreads

Pollution almost 10 times what is considered safe for drinking water has been detected in groundwater below Veteran’s Park, according to state Department of Environmental Quality officials. The pollution, from former use of the solvent and carcinogen 1,4 dioxane at Pall Life Sciences in making medical filters, marks the farthest east the contaminant has reached in underground water. No homes or businesses are believed to be on well water in the area and officials do not believe the finding poses a public health threat.
