Ziegler, Alice E.
Ann Arbor, MI
Age 71, the daughter of Burton E. Brinkman and Eva (Thomas) Brinkman. Born November 15, 1927, she attended Townline Elementary School and Ypsilanti High School where she was co-valedictorian of the class of 1946. She was granted a Regents Alumni scholarship to the University of Michigan and graduated in 1950 from the school of Journalism. She worked for the Ann Arbor News for 5 years. She married Lawrence W. Ziegler on July 21, 1952. She is survived by her husband Lawrence; and sons, William (Joyce) of Crystal Falls, MI and Richard of Ann Arbor, MI; and three grandchildren Erich, Anne, and Christina Ziegler, all of Crystal Falls. She is also survived by a niece, Deborah (Ron) Flock, Lincoln, NE; and nephews, David Brinkman, Lincoln, NE and Terry Brinkman of Ann Arbor, MI. She was preceded in death by her loving uncle and aunt, Andrew and Edith Fahrner, whom she lived with for several years; and her brother, Burton L. Brinkman. She belonged to the Washtenaw County Historical Society where she was editor of the Washtenaw Historical Impressions for over 24 years. She belonged to the Salem Historical Society, the Washtenaw Genealogical Society, and the Cobblestone Farm Country Dancers. She was a member of the Ann Arbor Historical Foundation who named her Historical Preservationist of the year in 1994. She belonged to the National Association of Letter Carriers Auxiliary and the 4-H service club. She enjoyed traveling in the United States and Canada. She was very dedicated to her family and community and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Services will be held 12 noon, Friday, June 25 at MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL with Reverend John Ferris presiding. The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 3-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Burial will be at Leland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Washtenaw County Historical Society or to the Arbor Hospice.
