O’Kane, Herbert Given Fund Posts

To Be Co-Chairmen Of Employe Division

James J. O'Kane, district Kiwanis official and W. Sears Herbert, of the board of directors of the YMCA, have been named co-chairmen of the commercial and mercantile employe division of the forthcoming Ann Arbor Community Chest campaign which will be launched here  Oct. 21.

Samuel D. Porter, campaign chairman, in making the announcement said that the two volunteers will be responsible for the solicitation of the emyloyes of approximately 110 commercial and mercantile' firms in the city having ten or more employes.

Last year more than 1,000 separate gifts for the support of health and welfare services in Ann Arbor were made through this division, which ran up a total pledged amount of $3,499.

Emphasis this year will be placed on employe pledges which take into consideration the fact that the campaign funds raised support 15 local community services and organizations.

Employes of firms where 100 per cent of the establishment’s personnel make a contribution will be awarded 100 per cent pins, while a Red Feather Honor Scroll will be awarded to all employe groups in which 90 per cent of employes make a contribution.

Assisting Co-Chairmen O’Kane and Herbert will be Wendell LaCoe, Leslie Moon, Robert Ball, Sidney Paup, sr., Myrl Underwood, Lyle Thayer, Arthur Greene, George Hall, Raymond Hutzell, Duane Eidson, Murray Wanty and D. Ward Edwards.
