V. 0. Nelson Named Advisory Board Head
V. O. Nelson of 1922 Lorraine Pl. was elected president of the Salvation Army Advisory Board at the Board’s monthly meeting yesterday at the Citadel.
He succeeds Arthur E. Crippen of 1308 Birk Ave. who has served for the last two years.
Other officers chosen include Norman Ottmar of 2103 Devonshire Rd., vice-president, and Mrs. Virginia Trevithick of 1529 Pear St., secretary-treasurer.
Robert O. Eberbach was elected to the board to fill the vacancy created by the death of George J. Burke, sr., while six other members were reelected to three-year terms.
The six are Mrs. Raymond E. Spokes, Mrs. Mack Ryan, Horace W. Campbell, Dr. Paul H. Bassow, John W. Rae, and Nelson.
Major Clyde Cox of the divisional headquarters in Detroit introduced Capt. and Mrs. Roland Quinn, newly appointed local commanders, to the board.
Major Cox also reported that 34 Salvation Army officers including the commissioner, Joseph Lord, have been killed or are missing in Korea, where they have been working with the soldiers.
The annual meeting will be held Feb. 16, it was announced.
