Ex-M star Lytle, Schembechler slated to speak
Members of the Ann Arbor Quarterback Club will hear Michigan Football Coach Bo Schembechler and Michigan All-America Rob Lytle when they assemble at the Barton Hills Country Club at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, for their 34th annual meeting.
Schembechler and his staff will be honored for their Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl victory while Lytle, All-America running back in 1976, will be the toastmaster.
Lytle now plays for the Denver Broncos.
The annual meeting and dinner also will serve to salute the three finalists for the Michigan Senior Athlete of the Year Award - track star Dan Heikkinen, basketball standout Paul Heuerman and All-Big Ten linebacker Andy Cannavino.
The athletes were nominated by all Michigan’s head coaches and the selection of the Senior Athlete of the Year Award is by vote of all undergraduate M men.
Club membership is $25 and includes Tuesday’s dinner. There will be golfing earlier in the day, starting at noon. Golf fees are separate.
Don Robinson is ticket chairman. Other Quarterbacks involved with ticket sales are Bob Ufer, Don Naylor, Howard Wikel, Jack Carver, Bob Lovelace, Howard King, Clem Gill, Harlowe Olson, Bob Bonfield, Jack Downes, Bill Graves, Bud VandeWege, Bud Stein and Jim Frenza.
