Open Play and DS Fest

Bored during school vacation? Come to the first every DS Fest at the Downtown Library Multipurpose room on December 26, 27, and 28 from 5-8 PM. Bring your Nintendo DS and any game you want to play like Star Fox Command, Advance Wars DS, New Super Mario Bros, or Big Brain Academy for an impromptu tournament among friends. Eight gaming stations and DDR will also be set up for drop-in open play.

Pwnerer, if you're going to tell jokes, you have to tailor them for your audience, and jokes about religion (in Ann Arbor, anyways) are usually considerd in bad taste. Not a slam, just letting you know to be a tad careful how you joke.

Yay, notable things I got were...Lots of beef jerkey, South Park seasons 3&5, and lighter fluid. Sadly I didnt get the laser sights for my airsoft gun, but I'm going to buy it online anyways.

You slackers. Nemo and I finished twilight princess two weeks ago. The desert temple (Arbiter's Grounds) is the 4th of 9 dungeons, although there are several mini-dungeons scattered around, some of which are pretty big, but none of which have multiple levels.

I think, after my stuff for my new iPod finishes downloading, I'm going to finish those Arbiter's Grounds, and I'll have them beaten by the time I get there tonight.

Also, one other thing, what sidequests have you finished? Cause it's all well and good to have finished the main game, but any Zelda player worth his salt goes to get all the pieces of heart, all the golden bugs, all the Poe Souls, etc.

Doh! Sorry, I didn't think that number of dungeons was a spoiler. Heck, I think Miyamoto mentioned it at a press conference. I couldn't let that 10-12 figure go by unchallenged.

9-year olds are welcome at the open plays, so long as your parents don't mind if he plays SSB.

You still didn't answer my question, Eli. How many of the sidequests did you do? I'm making a point to go through and get all the Golden Bugs and Poe Souls, and trying my hardest to not use an FAQ or a Strategy Guide. I bought the Startegy Guide, but it's still in it's plastic wrapping. I'm trying to see how long I can go without opening it.

Also, fun fact. I have played exactly 24 hours and 1 minute of Twilight Princess so far.

I'm in for a tetris rematch... you were pretty unstoppable though.

We did many of the side quests, but not all... I think we're only missing 3 bugs, but at least 20 Poes and probably 10 pieces of heart. We still want to go back and finish more stuff, but we've been busy with Monkey Ball and we just got Elebits.

As for your brother, swordmaster, he can come to the tournaments, but he cannot compete unless he's in the right age range for the tournament.

That knight is tough, you won't beat him with only 3 hearts, but why don't you just fill up with soup from the yeti's pot? It's unlimited, so you can fill up your hearts and take a few bottles with you.

Man i missed the DS fest. I thought there was one on the second and third of January. I tried playing at a Macdonalds and it didnt work it could have just not been a hot spot but is there anything special i have to do to log in online?

Bad Driver, there is indeed another DS Fest at Pittsfield Branch 2/2 and 2/3 from 1-4 PM. This one won't have gamecube open play, so people might actually play their DS. I won't be there, but Eric will be there with one of my DS's. (Yes, there are four in our household. =) Hope you guys can all make it... the Tetris Match we had last week was pretty cool, and the more the merrier.

ok sweet hopefully i can go. Are all the libraries wireless hot spots? because i tried playing my DS at the northeast branch and it didnt work.
FJW and Mike S. you guys share a memory card?

NE is the only branch without wireless; if you register your DS with our network, you can use it at Malletts, Pitts, West, or Downtown. Because the DS doesn't really have a web browser, you need to register it manually to use it at the library. Check out [http://www.aadl.org/node/944|this post] from about a year ago for detailed instructions on how to get your DS registered. The catch is basically that you need to try to connect at any wireless-enabled library branch first so that your device will be known to the network. If you go to DS fest next week at pitts, Eric can also help you get registered.

yeah me and EBD were the only people from the GT there. I enjoyed the DS fest and thank you very much eric and Mike for helping me with several things :). Also i thought the noise machine/bros and co where bad well i dont think that anymore after all those little kids yelling and screaming when anything happened to them and than there was the kid who kept yelling for his sushi. Well again thank you Eric for helping me get online with my DS.

He's been here since the beginning, he dominated several of the monthly tournaments back in Season 1 (when we just had Mario Kart), until TurtlePerson2 showed up and started to win everything that wasn't nailed down.

Won my first two Singles Melee competitions, don't think I've placed since then...

awww NOOOO i thought tom wasn't commentating anymore cuz i didnt see him posting anything lately!! yeah im like michael jordan: im old, came back from retirement, and am not as good as i was when i was young b4 i retired. and everyone knows me. And even though tom and dan flame on me in the commentary box, they know that were all part of the same family: the aadl gt family. Also I like the hall of fame idea.

Sice I got back my FF7 from Ian, I began to play it like crazy. I've already gotten to the point where Aerith dies. :( Anyways, I'm trying to make a new topic because I read everyone's posts and there is no current topic. So I ask you all: What's your favorite PS1 RPG and your most emotional point in the game?

To my fellow clanmates: If by your permission, I would like yo "remix" or remake the VMC logo. My plan is to make it look better. I also plan to remake my own RED symbol. Since my clan no longer exists, it's my own personal symbol now.

Sorry, why are you limiting it to PS1 RPGs. My favorite PS1 RPG is FFVII because it's the only PS1 RPG I've played. My favorite RPG has to be FFIV. Then after that it's followed by FFVII and Earthbound (although I haven't played very much of it). Although now that I acquired some old RPGs that might change. I still need to get [w:Super Mario RPG] which might be one of my main justifications in getting a Wii.

You can make a new logo if you want just make it look good.

Ummm....Noah's video was not funny. I even skipped some of it because it was a little annoying.
Anyways, I feel like I should have gone to the Pokemon Games...just as long as it dealt with the first two seasons. Now the Pokemon Company (c) is going a little too far. Anyone's thoughts on the ever ongoing series of Pokemon?
Also, as school draws ever closer to an end, I'm slowly growing more eager to purchase a Nintendo Revolution of my own.

Hmm... That clan would be pretty good, but I think the loss of the Roysters can't be made up for. Also, passing up the opportunity, if there was one, to add Francisco to your ranks seems like a mistake--he was near the top of the leaderboard with next to no Kart experience/skill, and he's since gotten the game. My prediction is that he'll be number 1 or 2 next year.

Does anybody know what Omega and Shin Oroachimaru are doing for next year, clan-wise?

Pickwick, Miniblin, jlgelinas, Beast From The East, Ampshock, DragoonBlack, muffincat and myself all aged out. Also Jerry aged out last year but no one noticed.

Let's see next year is the last season for Joe S, TP2, EBD and I think Lain and his clan (not sure about that though) age out. Odds are more people age out, but I can't tell you that.

So In two years many of the major kart players will be gone.

Is RollGoal a Wii-only thing? I have no idea what that is.
With that unchecked, though, I'm at 94.216%, according to the site: 48 Poes, all bugs, all but two pieces of heart, 7 skills, 3 bottles, 2 bomb bags, the giant quiver, the giant wallet, completion of the Cave of Ordeals and all minigames (except, possibly, RollGoal) and the magic armor.

That was over the course of four long days and one short day of gaming. "Twilight Princess" was addictive, but I was pretty disappointed with the game--I found it to be much, much easier than any in its noble lineage of predecessors, and felt that my intelligence was being insulted by most of the advice Midna and other NPCs chimed in with.

Edit: The Magic Armour has one use; it makes the Cave of Ordeals pretty easy, especially as it holds a few silver rupees.

Edit 2: Oh, that's what Roll Goal is. I haven't done it.

I don't get my Wii till after finals (tommorrow at 1)

Congratulations, Mdidget! You win a teabag(from Pickwick brand, naturally.) Have you read/Are you reading the book? Tell me what you think, if you are. And you should have/be, if you aren't having read/reading it.

A complaint or two, dressed in the garb of questions, regarding "Twilight Princess":
Why were there so many chests with Rupees? Couldn't the makers have found something else to collect, and mixed it up a bit?

And why were the Slingshot and Hero's Bow given Link one right after the other? Once you have the Bow, there's no compelling reason to use the other at any point in the game.

Why did they make Link's shield stronger, and the enemies weaker? In past games, Iron Knuckles were to be feared, because one could knock the protagonist off his feet, shield and all, with a single swipe. Now, Link can block virtually all attacks, including those of Iron Knuckles and level bosses <em><strong>(?!)</strong></em>, simply by locking on to the enemy, and very few enemies do more than a quarter of a heart in damage--if they manage to get past his shield at all. Once you have all the heart containers, you'd have to get hit 80 times (more, if you have healing items bottled) to die.

Etc...

Edit: Go to the tournament, people!!! Especially those of you who have several seasons remaining in the GT; we need to be training the next Pwnerer right now.

There'll probably be an Ann Arbor vs. Midland crew battle part deux, since we got destroyed when we went there not long ago.

This is what happened

Me (Fox) vs AS money (Marth) I win 3 stock

Me (Fox) vs Acro (Sheik) I lose 2 stock

Acro sweeps the rest with his two stocks.

The "rest" were Lain, Hung_Lo, and Sam.

If we had an Ice Climber though, we could get past that nasty Sheik, at which point we can cruise off of me, and someone'll have to take care of those last two/three stocks.

haha. see i could have taken the first guy, but it was suggested you go first.

woulda been better if i went first, then rob, then you, then sam somwehre in that mix since he's dead stock.

all in all the crew battle just wasn't fair. haha. sam's mindgames aren't enough. hahah.

Very much agreed Lain. I'd also like to make the announcement that I am purchasing a Nintendo Revolution after finals are over. I'll report on my Wi-Fi number when I find it. I'd also like to know if Virtual Console is open for business yet (this is why I'm buying the console...)

That is becuase there is nothing to post about the blog has begun its off season lull really the only disscussion item is the planning meeting that is yet another 2 or 3 weeks away

GUYS.

I need your help! I can't just pull 135 dollars out of thin air, and, although I can pull 40 or so, it'll be an ordeal to pull 135.

This is to pay for the Ann Arbor venue we're using (WCC room). If any of you will help, you will get paid back on the twenty fourth of February, regardless of attendance to the tournament. Even if nobody shows up, I'll pay you back out of my pocket. I just can't afford 135 dollars, but we'll all break even (except maybe me) if you guys help me out.

Apologies... I can't help at all. I'm going to have to collect spare change just to pay the entry fee--my parents haven't given me an allowance in six or seven years, and I don't have a job yet.

I request that many of those on this site obtain a Facebook account. Recently, many students in Ann Arbor have made an account. It's a really nice server. Anyways, the main reason is to forward the progress of my AADL-GT group that I recently made. It would be that much more fun because obviously this site is boring during the off season. Anyways, Facebook is host to many people that we would reconize quickly. If you do make an account, search Mike Beech (my name) in the profile search so you can send me a message. If I reconize anyone, I'll send them an AADL-GT group invite.
