Miss Anna L. Clinton, 89, a lifelong Ann Arbor resident and former Ann Arbor Public Schools teacher for 48 years, died Saturday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. Her home was at 521 E. Ann St.
She was born Dec. 7, 1870, in Ann Arbor, a daughter of Joseph and Jane Kearns Clinton. She attended the Ann Arbor Public Schools and was graduated from Ann Arbor High School. She attended Ypsilanti Normal College, now Eastern Michigan University.
Before her retirement in 1939, Miss Clinton taught first grade in the former Donovan School, Mack and Jones School for 48 years.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Washtenaw Historical Society and the Retired Teachers Club.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Burial will be made in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today.
