Charitable agency keeps home
The House by the Side of the Road, faced with loss of staff and differences among supporting groups, has been given a new lease of life. The county board of commissioners Wednesday approved allocation of space at the Service Center Health Building to the charitable organization collecting and distributing clothing and household gadgets for the needy. But commissioners stipulated that the county facility may be used by the group only as long as local churches continue to support its operation. Earlier, its volunteer director resigned, and some supporters expressed concern over lack of coordination.
