Mrs. Burt Lutz
Mrs. Matilda Lutz, 64, of 2019 Devolson Ave., wife of Burt L. Lutz who operates a grocery store at Main St., died suddenly today at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital.
She was born Sept. 21, 1890, in Bridgewater township, a daughter of Christian and Katherine Jedele Ernst. She married Mr. Lutz on Sept. 10, 1913, and they had lived in Ann Arbor. He survives.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed Church, the ladies auxiliary of the church, the West Side Women's Club and the Royal Neighbors of America.
Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Mrs. A. A. Besford of Ann Arbor; one son, Burt K. of Ann Arbor; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Maurer, Mrs. Oscar Seeger, Mrs. George Geisel, all of Ann Arbor; one brother, Andrew Ernst of Saline; several nieces and nephews. One sister, Mrs. Henry Frey of Northville, and a brother, Fred Ernst of Clinton, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Muehlig Chapel, with the Rev. Walter S. Press officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after today.
