Willow Run: Crossroads Of World At Your Door

GIANT AIR TERMINAL: It's a busy place 24 hours a day - the big waiting room at Willow Run Airport. This view of a small area shows the airline ticket counters along the east wall and the gift store in the center.

TICKET SALES BRISK: Five employes are kept busy at one of the ticket counters as flight time nears. Reservations are handled quickly even for long flights. This is the American Airlines counter.

INSURANCE: It's easy to get trip insurance if you want it, on one of the many coin-operated devices at the airport.

TRAVELING LIGHT: Most airline passengers hold down the weight of their luggage as much as possible.

OPERATIONS: Leonard Neudecker, 1247 Evelyn Ave., Ypsilanti township, and Mrs. Jacqueline Turner, 502 Pearl St., Ypsilanti, have the answers for queries directed to Northwest Airlines operations office.

LOTS OF READING: For those who want to read while waiting for riding there is a great choice. Willow Run vies with Macy's of New York for biggest pocket book sales.

SOUTH CONCOURSE: View from above looking south shows the protected walk for passengers departing from the south concourse. This also can be seen from the observation deck from with thousands of Washtenaw county residents have watched planes arriving and taking off.

CREWS KILL TIME: Pilots and stewardesses relax between flights at Willow Run. These are Capital Airlines employes.

SAFETY FIRST: Willow Run has an outstanding safety record, but there's an ambulance and fire trucks ready for any emergency.

THE 'VOICE': Mrs. Edith Rice, 741 Towner St., Ypsilanti, is the owner of the voice you hear announcing flights.

PLANE ARRIVES: When a ship arrives, passengers get off, luggage is removed and refueling takes place in a hurry.
