Age 77, died Friday, June 26, 1998 at Riverview Nursing Home in Ann Arbor. Ruby was born in Bryan, TX, the daughter of Jive and Pauline Lewis. She graduated from Kemp High School in Bryan, TX, and went on to marry Jesse L. Thompkins on January 19, 1950, who preceded her in death. Ruby is remembered for being a kind hearted person and was the leader of her neighborhood crime watch. She is survived by daughter, Roslynn Hatchett of Ann Arbor; sister, Rosa Hine of California; brother, Thomas Kearney of Bryan, TX; nephews, Thomas Kearney, George, Charles, David, Robert, Doug, James and Walter Bowers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 1998 at noon at Bethel A.M.E. Church on John A. Woods Drive in Ann Arbor. Family hour from 11 a.m. until time of services. Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements by Muehlig Funeral Chapel.
