Escaper Hears How to Avoid Draft

A 16-year-old boy who failed to return to the Boys Training School at Whitmore Lake last month told city police yesterday he has lived at a local house where marijuana was used and counseling on fleeing to Canada to escape the draft was given.

The Muskegon youth was picked up by Ann Arbor officers at the house, and police said he had on his person at the time $216 in cash, two diamond rings and identification for another person. He attempted to escape out a back door of the house but was caught.

The teen-ager said he saw a number of young men at the house who were given instructions on how to get to Canada in order to avoid the military draft and he said there were continued discussions in the house on opposition to the Vietnam War.
