Age 82, died Wednesday evening at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following a two month illness. She was born July 1, 1901 in Pittsfield Township, where she had lived her entire life, the daughter of Russel and Mary Rahr Godfrey. She was married to Gerdes R. Onago in 1929 in Ohio and he preceded her in death in 1964. Mrs. Onago was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the Cobblestone Farm Association and a member of the M.E.A. She was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University and served as a teacher for 30 years in Monroe County, Washtenaw County and Jackson County and retired from the Napoleon, Michigan School System. Survivors include: one daughter, Virginia Onago and one son, Robert Onago, both of Ann Arbor. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Terry Ging officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to the Cobblestone Farm Assocation or the Cancer Fund. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel beginning Saturday.
