Sally Peacock Is Betrothed To Pvt. Potter

Wedding Of Suzanne Potter To Mr. Lourie To Be Held This Afternoon

The rehearsal dinner given last night by Mr. and Mrs. Clark B. Potter of Barnard Heights, at the Allenel hotel, for the wedding party of their daughter, Sydney Suzanne, and Archibald Lourie of Baltimore, Md., had as a surprise Interest the announcement of another engagement.

When Mr. Potter proposed a toast to one of the bridesmaids, Sally Hazzard Peacock of Detroit, and his son, Walter Taylor Potter, of the United States Marine Corps, only one of the parties, the bride-elect,, could be present to respond, Pvt. Potter being a member of the Marine garrison on Midway Island. Guests at the dinner in addition to the members of the families and of the wedding party, included the parents of Miss Peacock, Mr. and Mrs. John Edward Lenover of Detroit. The wedding date was not set.

The new bride-elect attended the Pines at Chatham, Ont., and finished at Ann Arbor High school. While attending school here, she lived with her grandmother, Mrs. Eleanor Hazzard Peacock, now of Detroit, when the latter had her home arid studio on Hermitage Rd. Mr. Potter, the bridegroom-elect, attended the University and is a member of Chi Psi fraternity.

Wedding This Afternoon

The wedding of Miss Potter and Mr. Lourie will take place at 4 o’clock this afternoon in St. Andrew’s Episcopal church, and will be followed by a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Potter, for about 75 relatives and close friends of the families. The bachelor dinner was given Thursday night in Cleveland, O., by friends and business associates of Mr. Lourie.

Mrs. Robert F. Wurster of Paul St., is to be matron of honor, and Miss Peacock and Mary Ellen Spurgeon of Detroit, are the bridesmaids. Miss Spurgeon gave the spinster luncheon at the home in Detroit on Thursday. Her sister, Patricia, will have charge of the guest book today. Mr. Lourie’s best man is a former college roommate, Lt. Frank H. Phipps, jr., of Bay Village, O., and the ushers are Gordon D. Haaxma, Catherine St.; Mr. Wurster; John O’Hara of the Lawyers club; and Howard V. Burr of W. Madison St.

FORMER ANN ARBOR GIRL ENGAGED: Mr. and Mrs. John Edward Lenover of Detroit have announced the engagement of their daughter, Sally Hazzard Peacock, formerly of Ann Arbor, to Walter Taylor Potter of Midway Island, T. H., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clark B. Potter of Barnard Heights.
