Louis A. Stapish
CHELSEA - Louis A. Stapish, 82, of 564 W. Middle St., Chelsea, died early today at his home.
He was born Dec. 10, 1876, in Lyndon township, a son of Joseph and Clara Foster Stapish. He married Cora Jane Stofer on Sept. 14, 1904, at St. Mary's Church in Chelsea.
She died Nov. 30, 1958.
The couple lived in Lyndon township until 1917, when they moved to Chelsea. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sept. 14, 1954.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chelsea.
A son, Albert, of Chelsea, survives. Four daughters, Mrs. Mae Boltz of Monroe, Mrs. Mildred Jarvis of Chelsea, Mrs. Doris Smith, also of Chelsea and Mrs. Josephine Fowler of Ann Arbor, also survive.
Other survivors are a brother, Raymond Stapish of Detroit; two sisters, Mrs. E. F. Sheills of Detroit and Miss Eva Stapish of Ypsilanti; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Fr. Lee Laige officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Friends may call at the Staffan Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
