The Three Little Buckeyes and the Big Bad Wolverine

There once were three little buckeyes and a big,  bad Wolverine. They were bitter enemies and each wanted the other simply to vanish. They had once been friends, for about ten seconds before they started arguing for Wolverine didn’t like people who were cocky,  and the buckeyes were just that.

It was a warm summer's day, the grass was green and the flowers bright with color, but you could still make out the three little buckeyes even amongst the beauty of the meadow and the sweet smells of the summer to come. The buckeyes stood out against the lush green and beautiful flowers with their brown shells gleaming in the sun and red sacks hanging over their backs. They were talking of the homes that they had. Having just come of age they believed the time was right for them to part ways. They were still young and small but their ego was humongous.

In the distance you could faintly see a shadow hiding behind the tallest tree in the meadow. The shadow belonged to  Wolverine. Animals often asked his name but they received the same response. “My name is Wolverine.” Wolverine was hiding behind the tree so he could spy on the buckeyes. He had formed a plan to get rid of the buckeyes. He knew together he wouldn’t be able to capture the buckeyes, but divided he could.

He decided to follow the first buckeye who was heading towards the river. The buckeye followed a path which led right to the first buckeyes’ home. The buckeye sat on the ground and started playing in the grass right in front of his home which was made out of wood and stone.

Wolverine tried to sneak up on the buckeye but tripped over a rock that was hidden in the soil.

“ Tried to sneak up on me did you, Wolvie,”taunted the buckeye.” Well my super skill was able to detect you.”

Wolverine sensed that the buckeyes cockyness was rising fast. He felt that there was a major opportunity. He set his plan into action. “ I would never be able to sneak up on you, buckeye,” said Wolverine in a surprisingly flattering voice. “ Your hearing is much too good.”

“ That’s right, you can’t catch me no matter how hard you try Wolvie,” squealed the buckeye.

“ JK!” yelled Wolverine lunging at the buckeye. He caught him in the side as he was showing himself of to Wolverine.

“ Ah!!!!!!!” screamed the buckeye, finally realizing what his cockyness and ego had gotten him into.

Wolverine dove and caught the buckeye. “ And I thought I couldn’t catch you no matter how hard I tried,” said Wolverine in a very irritating sing-song voice. “ Oh and one more thing never call me Wolvie.”

“ Let me go!!!!!” yelled the buckeye who was struggling in Wolverine’s hand.

Wolverine smirked. “Ok,” he said and with that he hurled the buckeye into the river. The first buckeye’s cockyness had gotten him captured.

Wolverine watched the white rapids of the river carry the buckeye around the bend and out of sight. He felt delighted from  getting rid of the first buckeye. In the distance, he saw the  second buckeyes’ brown shell gleaming in the distance. He smiled. “ My plan is working like a charm,” he muttered to himself. “ Only two more buckeyes to go.” Wolverine tried to sneak up on the second who was walking parallel to the river  but the buckeye heard his footsteps. Wolverine had done this on purpose. He knew this buckeye was even cockyer that the first and was therefore unlikely that he would run away. The buckeye turned around suspiciously as if he knew that something was following. He wouldn’t have seen Wolverine if Wolverine didn’t want him to, for his brown coat of fur  blended in perfectly with the dead grass which had inhabited this part of the meadow since mid-spring.

“ Hello Wolvie,” sneered the buckeye. “ Come to try to catch me. Well. I don’t suppose you could catch me by hiding from my super powers.”

Wolverines plan was working to perfection. The buckeye was reaching dangerous cockyness levels and would probably would make some rash decisions.

“ Hey, Wolvie do you want to hear my new song?” asked the buckeye.

“ No, actually I don’t,” snarled Wolverine

“ Don’t care.” yelled the buckeye and he started to sing his horrendous song in his horrendous voice. “ Oh, nobody can beat me. Not even big Wolvie. They’re all big losers plus there all snoozers and I the only one who is- AHHHHHHH!” screamed the buckeye for Wolverine had attacked him right in the middle of his gruesome song. The buckeye just managed to escape Wolverine’s claws, which were like steel bars. “ You wanna fight Wolvie? It’s on.” getting to dangerous cockyness level he got into a boxer's stance getting ready to face Wolverine.

“ Wow, you’re actually going to fight me. Ok” said Wolverine in a surprised tone. With a single flick of his tail his flipped the buckeye into his paw before the buckeye even had a chance to react.

“ LET ME GO!!!!!!!!!!” screamed the buckeye finally realizing what his cockyness had done.

“ Ok,” said Wolverine in a voice that clearly said, “ Hey it’s your funeral.” and so it was. Wolverine hurled the buckeye into the raging waters of the river. The second buckeyes’ cockyness had gotten him captured.

Wolverine watched the buckeye get swept away feeling like his birthday had come a month early. “ Two down, one more to go.” Suddenly Wolverine was feeling thirsty. He went down to the river to get a drink which is were he met face to face, with the third and final buckeye.

“ Hello Wolvie,” sneered the buckeye. “ I heard the you disposed of my other two brothers. “Well I thank you.”

“ What do you mean,’” I thank you?’” questioned Wolverine. “ Are you trying to say that you're happy that your two brothers are gone?”

“ Yep,” said the buckeye. “ I always new I was the best but I could never figure out a way to prove it. We never had any competitions for my cocky brothers said that it would waste their time because they already knew that they were better that me.” continued the buckeye. “ But now I know that I am superior them because I’m the only one who is still here.” said the buckeye letting the cockness of himself take over.

“ Oh I’m going to take you down,” snarled Wolverine and with that he took a mighty swipe and grabbed the buckeye squeezing him.

“ Let me go,” choked the buckeye.

“ If you say so,” growled Wolverine and with that he chucked the buckeye into the raging river.  The third buckeyes’ cockness had gotten him captured

He watched the buckeye get carried away by the currents of the stream. Not feeling the tiniest bit of sorrow for the buckeye. He started to walk back to his den still feeling better for he knew that cockyness never gets anyone anywhere and know the buckeyes had learned their lesson. They also learned that can’t survive without each other.

The first two buckeyes eventually figured out what the third buckeye said about them and so they threw him into the river and let him get carried out to sea where he was unheard of for the rest of eternity. And that is the story of the Three Little Buckeyes and the Big Bad Wolverine.
