It was Friday, the third day until Halloween. Windy and dark with only a few stars. I looked up at them slowly being covered by the dark ominous clouds. Only four left, three, two, one. The clouds have won. It has been a long time since I had just sat. The last star disappeared. I sat up and grabbed my drawing journal. My phone beside me on the blanket buzzed. It was Autumn. I read the text, it said, ‘Oh my god Phels, it is so fun here at Lucian's party. William and Davey are here too. Wish you were here.<3.’ I responded ‘Me too:( ’ I layed back down. And thought of William. William had been my crush for three years. So since 3rd grade.  He had brown hair long on the top short on the sides, he always wore a sweatshirt, and he was medium height. Now Lucian, he had the same hair but a rounder face and was shorter. Ten minutes passed. Twenty. Thirty. My eyes drooped. Everything blurred then suddenly turned pitch black.

I woke up to the sight of my older sister, Briana dumping a bucket of  water on my head.

“Stay up late thinking of William?” She inquired tauntingly.

“Go shove it!” I responded “It’s Sunday!”

The biggest mistake of my life, telling Briana about William. Now Briana is a Sophomore at our local high school and is friends with William’s sister Karen. No, no, no don’t fret your little brain, Briana never told Karen about my BIG crush on William.

I walked inside my sweatshirt covered in dirt from sleeping outside.

“You gotta stop sleeping outside, Ophelia,” my mom said disappointed.

“I'm sorry it just gives me a lot of… I don’t know… inspiration, mom.” I said.

I picked up my cat , Holiday, who was nuzzling against my leg and stroked her head.Keep in mind it was my fifth christmas, five years old, when I named her.

“Where’s dad?” I asked, taking my dirt covered sweatshirt off.

“Off at work again,” replied my mom disappointed.

I sighed and plopped onto the couch. My phone buzzed again, Opal, ‘ Hey, Phels! Good morning, my friend!!’ ‘Morning’ I responded. I turned up my phone volume to medium low pulling a blanket up to my neck. I grabbed my black beanie from the counter and put it on my head.

About ten minutes later. My other cat came racing in. Her name is Indigo. Indigo, was batting at her toy filled with catnip running around like a crazy person. I sat up and crawled over to her, petting her back. She rolled over onto her back. I looked over to my mom sitting on the other couch sipping coffee and correcting papers. I stood up and slid on my jet black uggs and headed upstairs. My legs were jelly as I started walking.

I finally got up the stairs into my room. I grabbed my jack-o-lantern leggings, black shirt, and Nightmare before Christmas sweatshirt. I quickly pulled them on and started towards the stairs. I skidded to a stop when I realized, I heard a car.

“Crap… He is here,” I muttered under my breath.

It was David pulling into his driveway. My other crush who lived next door. He had hair like an dark, curly, orange glow in the sky. He was smart, nice and funny, let alone, my dad had the same name. I ran down the stairs trying to see him. I was so lucky we were friends. I got to the bottom stair pulling my hair into a loose pony-tail and running out the door.

“Hey, Davey!” I said running towards him.

“Hey, Phels! Long time no see,” he replied.

I giggled. Davey had been gone on a soccer travel trip all this week with his family. Not at school.

Oh, how did we meet you ask? Well I will tell you. It was Fall of 2013 and I was about to play my first soccer game. I heard the ref talking to coach. I moved closer to hear what they were saying.

“The only other girls team is out sick, because two players are at running and three are sick with the flu.” The ref was whispering distressed.

“Does that mean we have to play the boy’s team?” My coach said like it was no big deal.

“I guess, so,” the ref replied.

My heart started racing. “I'm not a strong enough goalie to block the boys,” I thought. I ran to grab my goalie gloves from the sideline.

“Can I play goalie?” I asked wanting to prove I could kick the boys butts.

My coach nodded waving me off. I ran into the goal for practicing. I saw the boy’s team walk onto the field. I was dead frozen when I saw him staring, wide-eyed, and open mouthed.

Halftime came. My coach put me out and his put him. “What do I say?” I thought. The grass was wet and I had a waterproof blanket and he was standing and shivering.

“Hey do you want to sit on this blanket with me the grass is pretty wet,” I asked him.

He nodded and walked over. I screamed with joy in my head.

“ Hey so what is your name?” We both said in unison.

“Im Ophelia. But everyone calls me Phels,” I said, chuckling.

“That is a cool name. Mine is David, but my friends call me Davey.”

I giggled. We talked and talked until our coaches called our names for the end of game. I had figured out that he lives right next to me and I never knew.

So that is the end of my little story. But as I was saying before... wait what was I saying? Travel soccer trips ,oh yes. Well it was complete crap because he was in my science group and our presentation was one of the days he was gone. So yup, crap.  My phone dinged. It was Opal ‘are you with black socks or caramel?’ this was a response to my blushy emoji. Black socks and carmel were are code names for William and Davey. Ding again, Gya ‘ Who?’ another response, I sent an emoji of carmel to both of them. I kept talking to Davey.

The next day we were headed to are social studies field trip. Mrs. Gold and Mr. Owen were talking about it when Kiera stood up and asked:

“Can we bring are phones on the bus?”

I had been liking William less these days almost to the point of not having a crush on him.

“No,” Mrs. Gold responded.

“What will we do without are phone's???!” William said, sincerely.

I snapped. I realized, I know nothing about him and I just had a crush on him because, what, he was cute. No crush anymore. Then I said sarcastically, “ Oh my god you will have to*gasp* talk to people!” I gasped.

But anyways, I had made new friends named Ẽlisabeth, Capitha, Ahlia, and Rosita. I also got a seat next to Davey in math. SCORE!

Before I knew it it was christmas break and christmas already passed. We were about to go to one of my favorite places, Great Wolf Lodge. I typed a mass message to send to Autumn, Opal, and Gya‘ i'm headed to great wolf lodge RIGHT NOW… Soooooo excited ‘ and another to  Ẽlisabeth, Capitha, Ahlia, and Rosita of the same. I was scrolling through my contacts and I saw Davey’s contact I typed up a message ‘ Hey Davey :)I am headed to great wolf lodge I am super excited :D’ and pressed send. I layed on my back. A few minutes later I heard a knock. I looked out the window. It was Davey. I screamed to my mom

“It’s Davey. Can I answer it?”

“Sure,” My mom said

I slowly opened the door. He pulled me out by my hand. It barely grazed the knob but I pulled it closed. He put his delicate hand on my cheek. I stared confused but not unhappy. He leaned in his lips barely touching mine. I felt my hand go up and I pulled him in. I leaned pushing my lips into his. Are lips unlocked slowly.

“I didn't want it to end,” I said quietly.

“Me neither,” he said hand still on my cheek.

I leaned in again kissing his soft, tender lips slowly.
