It was a typical sunny day in the whole United States. The kids were playing with water and the adults were- Wait, wait, wait. Hold on, I can’t do this. I can’t tell the story this way. I have to go back, way back. To a Royal Land called Standania…….

“Isabelle!” The Queen yelled. Startled, Isabelle jumped up and ran through the hallways of the Standanian Palace. Onc she got to the big door at the end of the hallway, she stopped and knocked.

“Come.” The Queen responded. Isabelle opened the eloquently decorated door and stepped inside. The Queen looked very irritated.

“Yes, my Queen?” Isabelle asked. She hated working for the King and Queen, not to mention the 4 princesses. Most of them treated her poorly and the Job didn’t pay much, but this was the best job a servant could have, and at least she could look forward to a great dinner, which not surprisingly, was her favorite time of the day.

“Make sure you have my dress ready by tomorrow.”

“Yes, my queen.”

“And, my daughter’s dresses.”

“Yes, my queen.”

“And, I want you to wash the dishes tonight.” Again? She was tired of washing the dishes. There was a whole lot of dishes to clean, and she couldn’t wash the dishes, and finish the dress. It was too much work.

“Yes, my queen.” Isabelle responded. The Queen made a motion with her hand, signalling Isabelle to go. Isabelle left the room, and closed the door. She went to her own room, and began working on the last dress. Isabelle could make some of the most beautiful dresses. She was probably the best dress-maker in all of Standania, It just took her a really long time to make them. She was working on the dress for not even 5 minutes, when her stomach rumbled. I need to eat, she thought. She went down to the kitchen to have her dinner. Yes, the kitchen. She ate in the Kitchen, she wasn’t allowed to eat anywhere else. As soon as she started eating, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She jumped and turned around. Two feet away from her was a little man with a hat about as tall as a dwarf. He had blue eyes and a brownbeard. Isabelle was dumbfounded.

“Who are you?” She asked loudly. The little man tipped his hat and smiled.

“John W.E. Wish. But my friends just call me wish.” He answered with excitement.

“And what do you want with me?” She questioned. Wish smiled.

“I’m here to-” Isabelle heard footsteps coming into the kitchen. One of the Princesses, Sophie, walked in with her plate.

“Who are you talking to?” She asked. Isabelle chuckled and pointed to where Wish had been.

“Why my friend Wish of cou-” She stopped short in her sentence. Wish was gone! Sophie frowned.

“Your friend who?” She asked vaguely.

“Umm, nobody.” Isabelle responded quickly. Where could he have gone?

“Okay, well, here you go.” Sophie said, handing Isabelle a plate and a fork. “I’d start now before mom get’s mad.” She added, walking away. Isabelle sighed with relief.

“Thank you.” Isabelle said quietly.

“Oh’- Sophie said, turning around. “And don’t talk to yourself. I know you’re ugly and crazy, but you don’t have to act like it.” She turned back around, and walked away. Isabelle, hurt and confused, slid down the wall. With her face in her knees, she wondered why things go so horribly for her. What did she do wrong? Why were the Princesses so mean to her? Without realizing it, she began to cry. The cry turned into a louder cry, and the louder cry turned into a sob.

“Don’t cry miss.” A voice said. Isabelle immediately stopped crying and looked up. It was Wish! He was back!

“But how can I not? They’re so mean to me!” She shouted rather loudly.

“That’s why I’m here, to help you.” Wish responded.

“How?” Isabelle asked curiously.

“I’ll give you two-”

“I wish I was on this Earth longer than anybody and that I was the richest person in all of Standania!” She yelled. Wish tipped his hat and smiled.

“As you wished.” He said, fading away. Isabelle frowned.

“Huh what are you talking about?” She asked. But it was too late. Wish was gone. Forget it, she thought. She decided to get started on the dishes. She tried to forget what wish said, but she couldn’t. As you wish? What did he mean? Was he mad? Suddenly, someone ran into the kitchen. It was the chef.

“Hey, get help! It’s the King and Queen! They’re dying! I think it’s a heart attack!” Isabelle stopped washing and ran into the dining room, where the Royal Family eats. The King and Queen were lying still on the floor. Doctors from everywhere came to try to revive them, but it was no use, they were dead. The money and the throne went to the eldest princess. The only problem with that was that the Eldest Princess was sick. In fact, all of the princesses were sick. The doctors said it would pass over, but it never did, they just got sicker, getting thinner everyday. Isabelle watched 3 of the 4 princesses die. Despite how mean, cruel, and heartless they were to her, it was very sad to see. Isabelle then decided to pay the last Princess (Princess Lexi) a visit. Isabelle made her way to Lexi’s room.

“Hi Isa-Isa-Isabelle.” Lexi croaked when Isabelle walked in.

“Hi, Princess Lexi. Will you be alright?” She asked. Lexi shook her head.

“No. My parents and all of my sisters are gone and I’m next. Things like this don’t just happen to people. It feels like someone wished death upon our family.” It was at that moment that Isabelle realized what she did. She was the one, who wished death upon the family. When she had wished to be the richest in all of Standania, all of the rich people started dying. There were no more rich people in Standania  Lexi was it. She took one look at Lexi, and knew, she was dead.  With the family being gone, Isabelle got all the wishes she hoped for. The only problem with that, is that nobody was willing to work for her. She was a servant. The lowest on the totem pole. The lows of lows. So everybody left Standania, Servants, Jokers, all of them. And pretty soon, Isabelle was the only one left. No friends. No family. Nothing. Nobody. Isabelle also found out she was immortal, due to her wish. She got really lonely.

“Wish!” She yelled one day. “I didn’t mean it like that! Undo my wish, please!” But it was too late. Wish was gone. Isabelle is still here to this day, traveling the U.S., watching kids play in the summer sun. The moral of the story is, be very careful what you wish for. I should know. I, Isabelle, wished for the wrong things.
