Mrs. Joseph Greve


Mrs. Caroline Schlecht Greve, 93, widow of Joseph Greve, died last night at the home of her son, Albert, at 703 W. Jefferson St., after a two-month illness.
She was born on March 23, 1858, in Plattenhart, Wurttemberg, Germany, a daughter of George and Anna Maria Stoll Schlecht.
She came to Ann Arbor in July, 1880, with her family, who made their home on a farm on Miller Rd. near the present city limits.
On June 5, 1884, she married Joseph Greve of Ann Arbor. The couple lived at 611 W. Liberty St. for a number of years. Mr. Greve died Aug. 9, 1913.
Mrs. Greve was the oldest living member of the West Side Methodist Church and had been a member of the Ladies Aid Society there for the past 68 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Oscar Stierle of Chelsea; three sons, Albert, Robert G. and J. Herman, all of Ann Arbor; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Muehlig Chapel, with Rev. Edwin J. Weiss officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
