Every day she wakes up, eats her cereal, gets dressed, goes to school, then visits her dying grandfather. Wakes up, eats cereal, gets dressed, goes to school, visits. She wakes up feeling cranky and depressed as she walks down the stairs, and eats her favorite cereal, but a little bit less than before. She gets dressed in her usual baggy hoodie and jeans, and walks to school. She is depressed during the day, and during lunch, she eats less than before. She visits her grandfather after school. “Are you okay grandpa?” She asks. “Yes, I am fine.” Her grandfather replies in a quiet voice. “You’ve gotten so skinny, are you alright?” Her grandfather asks. “Yes, I am well.” She replies. She says goodbye to her grandfather, and walks back home. She goes to sleep. She wakes up in the morning, less cranky, and walks down the stairs. “We have something to tell you;” Her mother says. “What’s up?” She replies.

                                           “Grandpa died overnight.”

She wouldn’t speak. She just sat down at the table, and ate even less than before. She got dressed in her baggy hoodie and jeans, and walked to school. After school, she collapsed.

                                               She never got up.
