The Beginning of the End/Day 1

Hi I’m Kaleb Thomas and this is the horrific story of the nightmare that I thought would never end. It all started when Owen, Jasmine, Alison, Kaydee, Liv, Eli, Luke, Justin, Riley, Dalton, and I were riding in my grandma’s SUV. We heard sirens. Then some guy ran into the car and started growling as blood came out of his mouth. Dalton said, “What should we do?” I said, “We can’t do anything until we know what’s going on!” So we called the cops and we asked what was going on. They said there is a zombie apocalypse. So I pulled out the gun in the glovebox. I cocked the gun and pulled the trigger. As a tear rolled down my face, I drove off with my lifelong friends. I first went to my Grandma and Grandpa’s house to get my Mom’s family. Then I went to my Dad’s house and he was outside shooting what we called “walkers”. Then we went to the National Guard Base outside of Knoxville. We went there and I said, “We’ll stay here till the apocalypse is over.”

Day 2

Me and Eli had to go into the city to get canned foods. So we got to what use to be called “Wal-Mart” but now it is known as a survival beacon. We got in there and we split up. I went to aisle 14 and Eli went to aisle 3. So, I got all the stuff we needed. As I was walking down another aisle I saw two “walkers” then I got out my knife. I stabbed both of them and turned around and then another one pinned me down. As the zombie went down to bite me, bang! After that, blood was dripping from the zombies head. So I look up and there’s my brother, Bowe with a 9 mm. So we’re walking back to the base, talking about a plan in-case someone tries to raid our base. When we get there we see trucks. We get inside and there are people trying to take the base for themselves. They aim the gun at Jasmine and Dalton. They say shoot them both. So they counted. 3,2,1. I ran up and dodged in front the two bullets. The man named Negan shot me in the eye and my leg. All my friends started shooting the enemies. My mom and my grandma got me to cover and stopped the bleeding in my body. They put a gauze pad over it and then put an eye patch on over the gauze pad. When we killed all of them, I went out to the open I get over there I see my friend Luke lying on the on the ground. I’m thinking in my head, “This isn’t happening. My friend did not just died from being shot.” Then I look outside and there’s someone being eaten alive by 3 of those flesh eating monsters. I go out and she’s already turned into one of those undead creatures.

     Year 3

It’s been three years since the disaster happened. We had a couple of times where people tried to take the base. Eli, Dalton, and I had to go hunting so we went a little ways further out of town. So we found a good hunting spot. About 2 hours later we saw a nice doe, so we decided to shoot it. While we were skinning the deer Eli kept watch. About an hour later we got back to the base and we ate. There was a kid that came to the base saying he drove down here, and he said he also said he knew us. He said his name was Logan Smith and He was from Princeton where I had lived. He said Luke, him, and I had been best friends. So I trusted him and said you can lay your head here tonight but no longer. So I was in bed and was trying to think of a kid named Logan Smith. Then it clicked, we were in the same class in Kindergarten through Junior year. So the next morning I woke up and talked to him about it and he had a kid with him. The kid was 7 years old, he had two other guys with him, and a lady . Then that’s when I remembered. One of the guys names was Andrew, then the other guy’s name was Levi. The kid was his nephew Jackson, and the lady’s name was Jasey. Jasey was his sister, Andrew was his brother, Levi was Jasey’s husband and Jackson was Logan’s nephew. Then it all made since. They all were related.

Year 5

It’s been 5 years and we’ve got no food throughout Knoxville. So we have to drive to Pleasantville.  It’s about 20 minutes away from Knoxville. So about two hours later Eli, Logan, Andrew and I get to the Pleasantville and we look at Dollar General. Logan says, “There’s no way to get through the walkers.” I say, “Are you thinking, what I’m thinking?” He says, “Well if you are thinking about just getting food then yeah!” “Nope, attract just one of the walkers over,” I tell them. Then they do it. Meanwhile at the base the kids are playing in the snow. When all of a sudden one of them start saying they feel sick. Her name is Emma she is 7. She just passes out. About 5 minutes later she turns into one of those flesh eating cannibals. Then owen takes a gun and shoots her as a tear rolls down his face. Meanwhile in Pleasantville, Eli and I are chopping up a walkers body. We take some gloves from the truck and put them on then, we put the intestines on our shirts. Then after Logan gets finished puking we start walking through the horde of zombies. When we get back out there it starts to rain. “Oh, NO! THIS CAN’T BE GOOD,” says Andrew. I scream, “Run!” As they are running Andrew trips over a log. “Get up, HURRY,” I scream. He just sits there and waves. Logan screams, “Get up!” As Logan starts shooting all the walkers in the head, he starts sprinting to Andrew and I say, “Logan STOP!” Then I grab his arm. As Logan’s brother, Andrew gets eaten alive he goes on his knees crying and screaming whyyyyyyy! As we are driving back to the base with Eli in front and Logan in the back it is quiet. We get back to the base and Owen is quiet. He hasn’t told about what happened to anyone. Everyone asks if he is okay. He just says he’s fine. So about two weeks later we go to Pella instead. So we go and we wreck about 3 minutes out of Knoxville we wreck. We have the same people with us just no Andrew. It wasn’t bad but it got bad there was a fire in a field. I yelled, “FIRE!” We ran and ran we ran so fast we got away from and it stopped. About ten minutes later we got back to the base so we starved through.

    The Guy on the Radio

So as we were eating lunch and we heard someone on the radio and I said Owen turn the radio up. The man said, “Don’t kill anymore zombies unless if you have to, there is a cure! Come to the CDC in your state IMMEDIATELY!” So I told the group, “Pack up, we’re going to the Iowa City CDC.” Then I told them that the CDC was a place we should have went a long time ago. Then about two hours later we got a few Jeeps and Army Trucks.

    The New Beginning

About 2 hours later, after we left we got to the CDC. We met up with

the guy on the radio. He said there’s a cure. I said, “We heard you on the radio!” I said, “There’s so much of the flesh eating animals, how are we going to cure them?” He said, “A single drop of moisture from the cure on the zombies bodies, and they turn back to a human. We sent crop dusters all over each state. They spread it all over.” I said, “So this nightmare is all over.” The man said, “Practically, Yeah it is!” He said, “You should go meet the thousands of people downstairs.” Then I said, “I never caught your name.” Then the man said, “Ben Wheeler. My brother is downstairs his name is Danny Wheeler. Then my friend Tucker Dobbs is downstairs too.” Then I said Thanks.” He said, No problem.”

2 Years After The Nightmare

2 Years later, me and my friends all moved to Knoxville. Justin, Riley, and I became roommates. Jasmine, Alison, Kaydee, and Livi  moved in next door. We settled down and hung out a lot. Once we all have children we will have a horrific story to tell, then I thought about something. How about I write a story of the apocalypse. So about two hours later I started my story and it started off like this. Hi, I’m Kaleb Thomas and this is my horrific story of the nightmare that I thought would never end.
