Dunbar Sponsors Camping Period

A varied program of activities for Negro children, including crafts, swimming, hikes, music and athletic, will be Inaugurated Aug. 4 when the two-weeks encampment of the Dunbar Community Center opens at Camp Newkirk,

There will be a professional staff of three and additional volunteer counselors who will run the camp under the direction of Mrs. Roberta Ellis Britt.

Miss Virginia Ellis will have charge of the music program, Walter Sellers will direct boys athletic activities and the waterfront, and Mrs. Flora Cherot will instruct the campers in nature studies. ,

Registration for the camp starts Monday, July 29, at Dunbar Community center from 10 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon. The camp is operated for girls, ages seven through 18, and for boys, seven through 11. The fee is $8 for the children of members and $10 for non-members. According to a spokesman for the Dunbar Community Center, registration closes Friday. Aug. 2.
