Girl stabbed to death; autopsy set

MONDAY APR 21 1980

A 17-year-old girl Ann Arbor girl was stabbed to death over the weekend, but police were saying little about the crime this morning.

The body of Shirlev Small, 2832 Page St., was discovered Sunday morning on a lawn only a few doors from her southeast-side home.

Police said she suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest. There were also cuts on her face, according to a department spokesman. An autopsy was to be performed today to determined the exact cause of death.

Miss Small’s body was found shortly before 7 a.m. on a lawn in front of 2820 Page St., a short distance from her home.

“There have been a number of persons questioned, but no arrest has been made,” a department spokesman said today.

“The body was fully clothed and her purse was next to her. There was a stab wound to the chest, and several cuts on her face. There was nothing that indicates any sort of sexual molesting, and that is about all I can release at this time,” the spokesman added.

Miss Small was a senior at Pioneer High School.
