Kirby, Grover P.

Age 74, died Wednesday, August 24, 1983 at his home after an extended illness. He was born January 14, 1909, in Oakland, Iowa, the son of Thomas J. and Hattie Ann Griffith Kirby. He had been a resident of Ann Arbor for 41 years. He was married to Ann Glushyn June 21, 1936. Mr. Kirby was a former builder in Ann Arbor and a security officer for the Ford Motor Co. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Ann Arbor. Surviving are: his wife, one son, John of Belleville; one daughter, Mary Burton of Orange, Calif.; six grandchildren; one sister, Edith Schaeffer of Portland, Oregon; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Warrant Officer James E. Kirby who was killed in action during the Vietnam Conflict. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Francis Rouse officiating. Burial will be made in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday.
