U-M's Dr. Bell Dies In Arizona
Word has been received here of the death Wednesday in a Tucson, Ariz., nursing home of Dr. Margaret Bell, professor and chairman-emeritus of the University's department of physical education for women and physician-emeritus of the U-M Health Service.
Dr. Bell was a member of the U-M faculty from 1923 until her retirement in 1958. The U-M women's swimming pool on S. Forest, which was built in 1954, is named in her honor.
Born on Sept. 8, 1888, in Chicago, she attended the Chicago Laboratory School of Dr. John Dewey, famous philosopher and former U-M faculty member.
