VANDALS UPROOT 'M': Asphalt paving fills a cavity in the sidewalk along the University Diagonal where the massive bronze "M" was partially pried up by vandals early Sunday. The marker is being straightened at the U-M plant department and will be reset in a new square of concrete next week. Two University students who were interrupted by U-M security officers while prying up the marker with wrecking bars have agreed to make full restitution for the damage, according to John Bingley, director of student activities and organizations. What other action will be taken in the case has not been decided.
