Description

Camila Chiriboga, is a Creative Strategist specialized in Inclusive design currently part of an Innovation Lab called LIO at Global Brands Group. She recently graduate from Parsons the New School of Design, although she graduated with the title of fashion designer, she likes to think of herself more as a systems thinker or problem solver, whose tool kit includes: rulers, scissors, textiles and a sewing machine. She graduated in 2017 and has interned at Calvin Klein, Nellie Partow and Steven Alan. Her passion lies at the intersection of fashion, health and technology. Camila is inspired to design, with and for, people with special needs. She seeks to celebrate people who are usually underestimated through her work and in this way, help boost their self-confidence to feel more highly valued and respected. Design for Camila is the tool to provide functional features that will improve people's daily lives; creating garments that will empower our bodies and minds; shape who we are, and allow us to embrace who we want to be through the power of fashion.

Camila was awarded the Eyes on Talents Innovation award, was the Finalist for Social Innovation designer of the year, winner of AARP disrupt aging competition, winner of the Uniqlo design competition and is part of the CFDA Fashion Future Graduates program.

Join Camila as she discusses designing for special needs, what it means to create accessible fashion design, the importance of this kind of design, and possibilities for the future.
