YPSILANTI - Theron William Kersey of 329 First Ave., an active member of Brown Chapel AME Church here for more than 40 years, died Monday of a heart attack shortly after arriving for work at the Central Specialty Division of King Seeley Corp., where he had been employed for nearly 38 years. He was 66.

Mr. Kersey had been minister of music at his church for the past 28 years. After attending public schools here, he studied music at Eastern Michigan College.

He was born in Ypsilanti on May 2, 1892, the son of John and Jenny Kersey. In addition to his long church membership, Mr. Kersey was a charter member of American Legion, Huron Post 408 here, and St. Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 7.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; a daughter, Mrs. Elenora Murray of Detroit; a son, William, of Ypsilanti; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Runnels and Augusta Kersey, both of Ypsilanti; a brother, Fred Johnson of Detroit; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Brown Chapel AME Church, with burial following in United Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state at the church Friday until services.
