Miss Helen M. Titus, 51, an associate professor of piano at the University and known as one of the nation's outstanding college piano teachers, died late this morning at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following a long illness.
Prof. Titus had been active in solo recitals here and also participated in chamber music work.
She lived at 605 Cressfield Lane.
Prof. Titus was a member of the First Congregational Church.
Cremation is scheduled today.
A memorial service, which will be held after Jan. 1, will be announced later. Contirbutions may be made to the Scholarship Fund at the U-M School of Music.
Arrangements are being made by the Muehlig Chapel.
