Mrs. Richard Wilt, Pittsfield Village housewife, has the unique Christmastime hobby of making papier-mache figurines for interior holiday decorating. Here, she holds one of the figures (right) as it looks when completed. At left is another character molded on a chicken wire frame from layers of paste-soaked newspapers. In the foreground is a third figure, representing the stage after the newspaper has been painted with a flat white base. Mrs. Wilt uses the basement of her apartment as a workshop.
